NO MORE CHEMO for Gracie

Hello all! When I was in Florida I ran for a little girl named Gracie. She was a precious little girl around three years old when diagnosed and I have great news to report! Her mom posted on her blog that Gracie will no longer need Chemo!  It is nice to really see the impact that raising funds for Team in Training has. I can't believe that a little girl so precious as Gracie had to go through all she has. But she has endured and she is now finished with CHEMO! She truly is a hero and a little angel. She was always smiling and positive about everything. Instead of living a life with no worries except who and what to play with this girl had to worry about Dr's and being sick. But now that is all over for her, she finally has her life back and can she she survived. This is why I run, to help people like her.

Posting from her mom.

NO MORE CHEMO!

For the last 2 years Gracie showed us just how brave and “full of Grace” she is!  We feel that we have been blessed with such an amazing little girl.  From the start of treatment all the way until now she wowed the doctors, nurses and her family with her ability to fight this battle.    Gracie had her last spinal tap with chemo on August 14, 2009 and on August 22, 2009 she took her last dose of chemo. With every “last” there was a special song and dance that Gracie would perform for us…we can see our little hero emerging into a happy 4 year old girl more and more every day.

Our family would like to thank every one that showered our family with caring thoughts and friendship. Your love and friendship seemed to come just when we needed it.  There was always some type of support given at all times.  When we were at the hospital many people came to show their support and some friends would come just about every day to be with us.  I am not sure I would have made it through the crazy times without all of you! There were times when we would arrive home late at night from Gracie’s chemo treatment and there would be a little something at our door, weather it be dinner prepared lovingly, a treat for Gracie, or one of us…. Saying, “just thinking of you” or “ keep BELIEVING” a message on the answering machine… always something..
We never expected to have a little girl with cancer, but knowing that you were there for us made a huge difference in our journey.  I don’t know if I will ever be able to thank you enough and I know you do not expect any thing in return.  But know that we will never forget your kindness!

With love and gratitude,

 The DiGiacomo family
